“This Is the End.” Do Not Believe the Latest Rumours About GreedFall 2, Because the Reality Is Far More Painful

A former Spiders developer claims that the RPG will not receive updates because there is nobody at Nacon who knows how to use the internal tools. A support response briefly revived players’ hopes, but the latest twist suggests that this may truly be the end for GreedFall: The Dying World.

The hopes of many players for new updates to GreedFall: The Dying World have just been dashed. A member of Nacon, the company handling post-launch support for the RPG following the closure of Spiders Studios, told a player that teams were working on new patches for the game. This news cheered up a considerable number of fans, as it had already been assumed that the game would not receive any additional content due to the developer’s demise. However, a former employee of the company has joined the conversation to reveal a sad reality: according to the claim, there is nobody at Nacon who knows how to fix bugs or create new features for GreedFall: The Dying World. Therefore, it is possible that we are facing the definitive end of the experience.

This emotional rollercoaster began when a player contacted Nacon to inquire about the future of GreedFall: The Dying World. Specifically, the player wanted to know whether the studio would be implementing future patches and updates now that its original studio, Spiders, had closed. The response from a member of the GreedFall 2 Support Team named Kevin was quite positive: “We can confirm that the development team is still actively working on GreedFall 2 and future updates are planned. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a timeframe for a fix, nor can we guarantee if a particular issue will be resolved in an update.”

However, the Reddit post received a comment from a user claiming to be a former quest designer at Spiders, painting a bleaker picture for the RPG. “I genuinely know that they, Nacon, can’t fix problems or create new content, as they were never trained to use our internal tools,” the user wrote. “On the other hand, according to our sources, there is no Kevin and there is no ‘GreedFall 2 Dev Team’ either, since the game’s title is GreedFall: The Dying World.”

As if that were not enough, The Gamer contacted the former Spiders designer, who confirmed not only what was mentioned previously but also other practices by Nacon that could generate controversy among fans. “Spiders no longer exists,” the professional stated. “This is the end of Spiders as we know it.” According to the former developer, towards the end of GreedFall‘s development, Nacon relied heavily on generative AI to fill in missing parts of the French translation into other languages. Therefore, the former designer believes it would be unusual for GreedFall: The Dying World to receive any updates in the future.

The Fall of Nacon and the Disappearance of Spiders

Nacon has been struggling with financial problems for months. Last February, the company shocked everyone by declaring insolvency and admitting it was unable to meet all its financial obligations. The situation quickly led to a restructuring under court supervision, and shortly afterwards it was revealed that four studios, Cyanide, Spiders, Kylotonn and Big Bad Wolf, had also filed for bankruptcy. The drama prompted several proceedings, including the sale of Spiders to the highest bidder, but with no buyer found, its permanent closure was announced. This left GreedFall: The Dying World without future updates and patches, while there are now fears that the remaining studios could suffer the same fate.
