Grand Theft Auto VI: Could It Have a 60 FPS Mode Right at Launch? [VIDEO]

Rockstar’s game may solve the problem by running at 60 FPS from launch on at least three of the four consoles.

One reason why Grand Theft Auto VI fans are eager to learn the still-missing details about the PlayStation 5 Pro is that the most powerful console currently on the market is expected to include a performance mode targeting 60 FPS.

However, according to a credible source, there is a good chance that even the base PlayStation 5 and the roughly equivalent Xbox Series X will support 60 FPS in Rockstar’s highly anticipated game.

The rumor comes from the popular Polish gaming podcast Rock and Borys, hosted by Remigiusz “Rock” Maciaszek and Borys Nieśpielak. In a recent episode, the latter said he had heard that work is underway to implement the 60 FPS option, although it is not guaranteed to be available when the game launches.

The Xbox Series S is expected to target 30 FPS, although Borys did not completely rule out the possibility that this version could also offer a higher-performance option.

“We previously mentioned that the Polish Media Markt website included information in its Grand Theft Auto VI description stating that players would be able to choose between Performance and Quality modes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. We have now received new information from a source close to Rockstar.

We do want to stress that it comes from a single source, albeit a very reliable one. There will reportedly be two graphics modes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, 30 and 60 FPS. For now, Series S will only offer 30 FPS, but according to our information, they are working on it with a large Microsoft team, so there may be more options there as well.

Why has Rockstar not announced these modes yet? According to our information, they are not yet 100 percent certain that the 60 FPS mode will be ready for launch. It may be introduced through a later update. They are working on it, but from what we heard, it will very likely be available at launch, although there is currently a serious development push underway.” Borys said.

That would be incredible news for console players, who have previously had to play Rockstar’s new games at 30 FPS, which could result in even lower frame rates during action-heavy moments.

Borys clarified that this information comes from only one source, so there is always a possibility that the source is mistaken. As for Borys’s credibility, he was previously the first person to reveal through Fool’s Theory that CD Projekt RED was working on a new The Witcher 3 expansion.

From a technical perspective, achieving this would be an incredible feat for Rockstar. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.
