[GC 2026] Will Exodus Be One of This Spring’s Hits? [VIDEO]

Archetype Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast (Hasbro)’s non-Mass Effect game has been given a release date, and it looks set to be a lot of fun.

Set in an entirely new science fiction universe created in collaboration with leading authors in the genre, Exodus offers a cutting-edge, narrative-driven experience that combines cinematic storytelling and extensive player freedom with contemporary AAA gameplay. The story layers action with deep emotional impact as players face the consequences of Time Dilation in their choices, creating unpredictable outcomes affecting their loved ones, legacy and entire civilisation for generations.

In Exodus, humanity has fled a dying Earth to find a new home in a hostile galaxy. Here, we are the underdogs fighting for survival. As the Traveler, you are humanity’s last hope. Your mission is to steal alien weapons and technology from the Celestials, the most powerful beings in the universe and humanity’s greatest enemy. But there’s a catch: Time Dilation. As Travellers on interstellar missions, your days are decades back home. The sacrifices you make to protect your loved ones have unpredictable consequences that reshape your world and change the future. When you return home, you must confront the consequences of your choices. In Exodus, the outcome of these choices is seen on a massive scale, building up over generations.

Time dilation amplifies the emotional impact of your story-driven choices like never before. When travelling on interstellar missions at close to light speed, time moves differently — days for you can be years, decades, or even centuries for those back home. The world you are fighting so hard to save moves on without you, changing and evolving while you are left behind. While you remain the same, your friends and family will grow old and change in your absence, forcing you to exist outside of time. As the Traveller, you navigate the stars on missions to steal alien weapons and technology from the most powerful beings in the universe — humanity’s greatest enemy, the Celestials. These remnants are then used to combat a destructive force that endangers the entire galaxy, including your homeworld. Through exploration, you gain an understanding of your universe, the Celestials and your connection to the fate of humanity.

As humanity’s saviour, you will lead a diverse group of companions in your fight for humanity; many of them have their own quests and romances. Brave and ready to face unfathomable danger, they are willing to join you in facing whatever arises. They are not just brave soldiers; they are genetically engineered savants, punk mech pilots and geniuses cursed with alien viruses. In Exodus, you have the freedom to customise your experience, from your character and progression to your combat style and the companions you choose. With each mission, you grow more powerful, progressing from a lowly salvager to humanity’s last hope. As you infiltrate dangerous alien strongholds, you must decide which combat tactics and strategies to use to exploit your enemy’s weaknesses.

Other new reveals from Gamescom Opening Night Live include Salt. Piloting a specialised combat mech, she is a master of long-range sniping, quick evasive manoeuvres and ink-like smokescreens that confuse and disorientate enemies. She thrives where others cannot, and in the heat of battle, no one quite has your back like she does. Jun and Salt are two strangers, hardened by very different worlds, who find themselves standing back-to-back against the same enemy. They are fighting not just to survive, but to protect the one thing worth going back for: home. Salt isn’t the only one fighting alongside Jun, though. Emrys, a member of the Deva — an enigmatic Celestial species defined by many consciousnesses — also joins the fight. Emrys plays a support role, launching Remnant Orbs that drain and weaken enemies while feeding the stolen power back into Jun for protection.

Exodus will be released on 7 April for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
