Although we don’t know what the Japanese company is up to, they plan to release a new Resident Evil project nevertheless.
Biohaze (), a fansite, has published a Biohazard Ambassador email, where Capcom is looking for „game testers.” Capcom’s Division 1 is involved, and they are the developers behind the the games series known as Biohazard in Asia! and Devil May Cry titles. They plan to test the game either on September 8 or 9 in Shinjuku, Tokyo, at an undisclosed place. They require participants to be a Biohazard Ambassador with experience (not sure how much…) in the RE games.
„To all Resident Evil Ambassadors: thank you for your patronage regarding the series. Today, we are letting you know that we are recruiting testers for a game that’s in development!! We are interested in incorporating the feedback of all Ambassadors into our development, so please read the details below and, if you are interested in participating, click the Entry button,” the email reads translated to English.
What can Capcom show to the people? We have two guesses. One of them is Resident Evil 8, but about it, we heard that it could be a next-gen title. Who knows, it might be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well (remember: in 2015, Resident Evil HD Remaster, the remaster of the first game’s Gamecube remake [yes, it is that complicated…], was available on PS3 and X360 aside from PS4 and X1…). The other possibility was also discussed on rumour levels: it might be the Resident Evil 3 Remake, but regarding this game, we heard that it is not developed in-house at Capcom. However, 2’s Remake has sold so well that Capcom might have changed plans. (The game first came out in ’99 on PS1.)
So a new Resident Evil game is in development, and Capcom has confirmed it.
