MOVIE NEWS – A new 47-second clip from Mutiny shows Jason Statham’s Cole Reed turning his car into a weapon after an ambush erupts around him. The 95-minute thriller, billed as a collision between John Wick and Die Hard, arrives in U.S. theaters on August 21.

The newly released segment, titled “Ambush,” wastes no time establishing the movie’s pace. Armed men box Reed in, but he flips the attack by using his vehicle against them, then steps outside and swiftly deals with two more assailants. Its blunt, kinetic choreography deliberately recalls the early action roles that made Statham a star, especially his Transporter era.

Murder sends Cole Reed into a much larger conspiracy

Reed’s ordeal begins when he witnesses the killing of his billionaire employer and is framed for the crime. His escape carries him aboard a cargo ship, where a personal revenge mission exposes an international network tied to human trafficking. The campaign has summed up the approach as “John Wick meets Die Hard”, while another piece of the promotion takes the form of an anime-inspired poster.

Statham leads the cast and also serves as a producer. Jean-François Richet, who directed Gerard Butler in the 2023 action movie Plane, is behind the camera. Annabelle Wallis, Jason Wong, Roland Møller, Arnas Fedaravičius and Adrian Lester round out the principal cast. Mutiny runs for 95 minutes and opens in U.S. cinemas on August 21, 2026.

There is no shortage of Statham projects on the horizon

Although his recent thriller Shelter struggled commercially, the actor already has several major releases lined up. Timo Tjahjanto is directing The Beekeeper 2 for a January 15, 2027 debut; Statham is reuniting with Guy Ritchie on the long-awaited Viva La Madness, connected to the world of Layer Cake; and David Leitch’s Jason Statham Stole My Bike is dated for August 6, 2027.
