The cel-shaded FPS, XIII Remake will not launch on the initially set target release date.
So far, the plan was to release PlayMagic’s remake (we’re talking about a game that was originally made by Ubisoft, though – did they give up on this IP, so that Microids, another French publisher, can pick it up?) on November 13 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. We can forget about it, as Microids has published a press release – we’ll quote Francois Coulon, their head of production: „We are thrilled with PlayMagic’s work so far. This additional development time is needed to reach the level of polish we’re aiming for. The announcement was greeted by an overwhelming response from the community and we’ll make sure to deliver the best possible game to our fans.” So they are afraid that either the remake will be weak, or that it’s not good enough yet to have a high-quality version available by November. They could have easily announced it without a release date – however, we are not their PR managers…
„Play as “Thirteen,” a talented soldier who lost his memory and has been accused of killing the President of the United States. You wake up injured and amnesic on Brighton Beach with the only clue being a small key and a mysterious tattoo “XIII” next to your clavicle. It’s now your job to search for answers in the 34 levels of the solo campaign. Don’t worry, you will find the appropriate weapon arsenal along the way,” the press release says about XIII. However, it forgot to mention that XIII is called Jason Fly…
XIII first came out in 2003 on PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC, shortly followed by a GameCube and Mac OSX port. The remake is now set to launch sometime in 2020, which doesn’t bode well for now. It will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
