id Software has also shared details of their upcoming Castle Grayscale mini-event.
id Software has announced the second update for Doom Eternal that is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia and Xbox One. The long patch notes show lots of fixes and a significant set of add-ons for the game, including the new Battlemode map, Torrent, a swampy place with long corridors and various platforms.
In addition to the new map, the Battlemode has received some fixes that manage to considerably improve stability. This includes latency adjustments to ensure smoother pairings, key combination support for each individual demon, and solutions to other issues like lack of audio.
Outside of the Battlemode, some demons have been empowered and will appear more frequently throughout the campaign with this second update. However, if that proves too difficult, they can be disabled in the game tab within the main menu options. For its part, the Photo Mode has also been improved with a “deepened lighting”.
In addition to the set of these tweaks, id Software has shared details on the upcoming Doom Eternal event, Castle Grayscale, which runs through July 2. It will allow players to unlock two skins, a nameplate, and three icons by completing in-game challenges. They’ve revealed that this mini-event is “designed to be completed in a shorter period of time” and thus prepare players for the next big Doom Eternal event, Hack to the Future 2.
Notably, the game has removed its Denuvo anti-tamper system following negative fan criticism. Bethesda has revealed that the myriad of abundant technical issues they suffered in Fallout 76 served to make the decision to delay Doom Eternal and focus on correcting any type of glitch.
