CD Projekt RED doesn’t get special treatment… except now it does, regarding Cyberpunk 2077.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has delisted the PlayStation 4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store, and they launched a website where players can request a refund. „Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via the PlayStation Store. SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice. Once we have confirmed that you purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via the PSN, we’ll begin processing your refund. Please note that completion of the refund may vary based on your payment method and the financial institution,” the site claims.

The management of CD Projekt RED (shortened to CDPR onwards) also issued a statement about the situation: „Subject: Temporary suspension of the availability of Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation Store. Legal basis: Art. 17 section 1 of the Market Abuse Regulation – inside information. The Management Board of CD PROJEKT S.A. with a registered office in Warsaw (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) hereby publicly discloses the decision of Sony Interactive Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as “SIE”) to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice. The decision was undertaken following our discussion with SIE regarding a full refund for all gamers who had purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store and want a refund at this time. All copies of the game previously purchased digitally on PlayStation Store remain available for use by their respective buyers.

Gamers can still buy physical versions of the game in retail and mail-order stores. All copies, whether digital or physical, will continue to receive support and updates from the Company. The Management Board of the Company has decided to publicly disclose this information in the form of a current report due to its potential influence on investment-related decisions.” In other words, if you don’t want to refund the game, you can continue playing your digital copy – they will not limit your access to it.

Recently, CDPR claimed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be updated in the next few days. Unfortunately, that’s all they said for now. However, VICE got an internal memo that was sent to GameStop employees. It reveals that the patch is going to launch on December 21 (Monday): „The following message is sent on behalf of our partners at CD Projekt Red: CDP will issue a patch on 12/21 that should be a major fix to address customers’ concerns about Cyberpunk 2077. If customers are still unhappy and want to return their product, they should be directed to send an email to [email protected] for reimbursement directions and refunds issued directly from CDP. Let’s end on a high note: Ryan Campbell Beans has recreated the E3 2018 trailer of Cyberpunk 2077 with the currently available build of the game. The result is one and a half minutes of net glitches and laughter, as it showcases a ton of incredible events in the game with some clever editing. It’s a nice parody.
