MOZI NEWS – Ryan Reynolds has given us some good information about Deadpool 3.
While the actor didn’t reveal too much about the highly anticipated Deadpool sequel, he assured fans that everything is going as planned and hopes to have official news on the film soon.
“Plugging away. Can’t really comment on that, but hopefully soon though,” said Ryan Reynolds when asked about the status of Deadpool 3. While the actor didn’t say too much, it’s good to hear that the production progresses well, with many people’s favourite big-budget superhero set to join the Marvel Universe.
Almost no word yet on the direction of Deadpool 3 or how much it will draw from the wider MCU. The sequel will, of course, once again star Ryan Reynolds, who proved he was born to play the role back in the 2016 premiere. Deadpool 3 is written by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, who also wrote Bob’s Burgers. Reynolds himself was involved in the selection of the writers: he read several submissions, and it was partly his decision to choose this writing duo to lead the integration of this hitherto standalone franchise in the Disney-Marvel universe.
Ryan Reynolds has previously revealed that he is writing alongside Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and has been very positive about them:
“…working with the Molyneuxs on it, it’s been great. They’re incredibly talented and so, so smart. They so understand that world and know how to zig when everyone’s expecting a zag, so it’s been a lot of fun. “
Deadpool will, of course, now also appear in the MCU, following the Walt Disney Company’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has since confirmed that the character will join Spider-Man and Doctor Strange in the Marvel Universe. He even assured fans that this wouldn’t change the character’s R-rated approach, saying, “It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
While Deadpool 3 doesn’t have a release date yet, Feige confirmed that Marvel Studios had a tentative premiere date behind the scenes. Deadpool 3 is expected to begin filming in late 2022.
