Star Wars: The Old Republic: BioWare Still Sees A Lot Of Potential In The Game [VIDEO]

The forthcoming Legacy of the Sith expansion is set to usher in a new phase in the legendary MMO‘s decade-long career.

December will mark the tenth anniversary of the release of the magnificent Star Wars: The Old Republic, BioWare’s MMO set 300 years after the events of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. BioWare will celebrate this milestone date with a new expansion pack that will include a new story, missions and an improved combat system.

Creative director Charles Boyd spoke to PC Gamer about the game’s future and revealed that he’s far from flirting with the idea of a conclusion or even a second episode. Boyd confirmed that the team has “no plans to stop” TOR anytime soon, adding that they have plenty more stories to tell within the game.

While it seems that there are indeed a lot of new stories being created in The Old Republic universe, BioWare is reportedly preparing to close the Malgus story arc. Without going into the details of the massive game’s plot, it’s safe to say that Darth Malgus has been the most recognisable character, appearing in various roles over the years and being present since the first trailers,

…so, after ten years, we can expect “some kind of closure for Malgus,” Boyd said.

Boyd highlighted the potential of Star Wars and the franchise’s breadth, saying it could be “a grand space opera, good versus evil thing, but it can also be a lone bounty hunter wandering around just doing jobs”. Until next month, we’ll have to wait for the new Legacy of the Sith expansion, which will include a visit to the planet Manaan, a unique location from the legendary Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
