MOVIE NEWS – The Witcher: Blood Origin was announced as early as 2020, but not many details were released other than the cast.
The Witcher series starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, has been a big hit with fans of the franchise and fantasy series in general. As a result, the second season, available on Netflix since yesterday, has a surprise in store for fans of the saga. The trailer for the prequel series Blood Origin – spoiler alert! – can be seen below the season finale credits.
The story of Blood Origin takes place 1200 years before the events of The Witcher.
Although this spin-off was announced months ago, so far, we have only been able to learn about the actors involved in the production. Now, after overcoming a few problems that threatened the series’ filming, it seems that the prequel is taking a lovely shape. Those who follow Geralt’s adventures in the video games and those who have joined the series’ community will be able to discover a story set 1200 years before the events of The Witcher.
While much is still unknown about Blood Origin, it has been confirmed that it will take us into the continent’s history and tell the story of the coming together of monsters, humans and elves. This union will give birth to the first witcher, so we can expect to see several new characters, who have been referenced in The Witcher games and Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels.
No release date for the Witcher prequel has yet been revealed; Blood Origin has only been introduced in The Witcher series with this trailer. As for the adventures of Geralt as we know it, we can now watch the continuation of his story on Netflix.
