Chibig’s games aren’t meant to be AAA or even visually revolutionary, but they are still something to behold.
Chibig is working with Nukefist on Mika and the Witch’s Mountain, which will launch on all main consoles this year. According to its Steam page, “Meet Mika, an aspiring witch with a half-formed set of powers. To complete her training, she must help out the townspeople living at the bottom of the mountain, bringing them packages on her magic broom. It’s time to make some friends and take to the skies! Help Mika earn her stripes, roaming around the island and earning upgrades with each successful delivery. Along the way, you’ll get to know each of the quirky characters in town. But be warned—flying is dangerous, and packages are easily damaged in transit!
A combat-free game for curious hearts. Soar with the wind and discover an enchanting open world with secrets hidden in every nook and cranny. A loving-made island sandbox to explore on your broom. Protect the packages from the elements as you fly around the island. Get to know the villagers, learning a new story with each delivery. Experience a heartwarming tale about growing up and making your way. A short narrative-driven game with enough secrets to keep you coming back for more.”
The other title from Chibig is Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara, which Talpa Games and Undercoders also develop. According to its Steam page, “Join series favourite Koa and her friend Napopo on an action-packed journey through the world of Mara! Traverse wild islands, dodge cunning traps and defeat the knarrrrrliest pirate bosses in this loving tribute to classic platforming adventures. Unlock an archipelago piece by piece. From sandy beaches to bubbling volcanoes, there’s no shortage of charming and colourful islands to visit, each one chock full of secrets and collectables. Each level offers beautiful visuals rich with detail and depth. Relax and unwind—or knuckle down and challenge yourself! From newcomers to speedrunners, Koa and the Five Pirates is a buccaneering adventure for all.”
Mika and the Witch’s Mountain and Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara will launch in 2022 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. So nobody will be left out.
