TECH NEWS – With this statement, the head of Meta implicitly promoted his product, the recently announced Meta Quest 3. Since this device is much cheaper than the Cupertino-based company’s product, many people could choose it instead of the Apple Vision Pro.

Some have already tried the AR headset we previously called Reality Pro. For example, a YouTuber, MKBHD, said that the experience was the closest to magic, but Mark Zuckerberg, the head of Meta, is not so keen on Apple’s gadget, which (and this is official) costs SEVEN times more! The Apple Reality Pro will cost $3500, while the Meta Quest 3 will cost $500. The Meta Quest Pro, the more expensive model, can be ours for $1000.

Zuckerberg said the Apple Vision Pro announcement showed how different Meta’s value and vision is from Apple’s regarding technology. Apple focused more on computing power, while Meta focused more on the social aspect. Zuckerberg’s thoughts can be found on The Verge: “From what I’ve seen initially, I’d say the good news is that there’s no kind of magical solutions that they have to any of the constraints on laws and physics that our teams haven’t already explored and thought of. They went with a higher resolution display, and between that and all the technology they put in there to power it, it costs seven times more and now requires so much energy that now you need a battery and a wire attached to it to use it. They made that design trade-off, which might make sense for the cases they’re going for.”

Apple has announced that the Vision Pro will be available from early 2024. Until then, the company and developers will have enough time to experiment with the hardware and thus develop suitable software for the AR headset, which is equipped with an M2 processor and R1 chip. Meta takes a different path, indeed.
