TECH NEWS – The budget iPhone (because it costs even less than the base model) also takes a component from the previous generation.

Don’t expect an iPhone SE 4 next year, but we’re already hearing a few things, courtesy of MacRumors. For example, it could take the design of the iPhone 14, but with flatter bezels and a larger display than the iPhone SE 3… and use the battery from the base iPhone 14. So you get a 6.1-inch display (a significant increase over the 4.7-inch), and it will ditch Touch ID in favor of Face ID. It won’t have Dynamic Island, which all iPhone 15s use.

Early prototypes (D59 codename) of the iPhone SE 4 use the A2863 battery, and it’s the same as the iPhone 14. It’s not the newest option, but it’s 3279 mAh, which is much more powerful and should last a full day before the phone runs out of juice. It’s understandable why Apple would reuse the iPhone 14’s battery: sales of the 14 series weren’t great because it used the iPhone 13’s design. In the case of the processor, however, the Cupertino-based tech giant has always used the latest in its “budget” models, and now it can also use a 3-nanometer chipset for better CPU and GPU performance. It could be either the A17 Pro or the A18 Pro.

Another new feature is that the iPhone SE 4 will use a USB-C port instead of the Lightning port (which was not present on the iPhone 14), and the company will also use the Action Button to make the cheap phone even more usable. Touch ID was last seen in the iPhone SE 3, and its sensor was in the Home button.

The only question now is the price. The iPhone SE has been the cheapest so far, but we can probably expect a price increase here as well, as is generally the case with the entire product line…
