Thorgal: From Comics To Video Game From A Polish Studio [VIDEO]

Warsaw-based Mighty Koi is working on an action-adventure title.

If a smaller studio is working on a current-gen game, then it’s time for the bigger publishers to think about leaving PlayStation 4 and Xbox One behind, as Thorgal is only coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox series alongside PC. The Warsaw-based studio does not have a published game yet; their other announced project is The Night Wanderer, which will be discussed later in today’s news.

Thorgal is an action-adventure game with RPG elements set in the world of popular comic books created by Grzegorz Rosinski and Jean Van Hamme. Based on a classic, well known and loved by fans, the fantasy storyline aims to provide a modern and engaging adaptation. Players will take on the role of the series’ main character, Thorgal Aegirsson – a Viking warrior of mysterious origins. He will have to face the enemies that lurk for him and his family – men and gods known from Norse mythology.

Throughout the game, there are many familiar RPG tasks to complete, and he will also have to confront dangerous monsters, bandits, and powerful unknown forces. Throughout his journey, Thorgal will encounter characters familiar from the comics and visit vast, meticulously crafted locations. Thorgal aims to interest existing fans of the series, attract new fantasy fans, and introduce this classic comic to RPG enthusiasts.

Thorgal is a Franco-Belgian comic that started in 1977, so it’s surprising that Microids is NOT behind the project, as this publisher is keen on picking up virtually ANY francophone IP. In 2002, a game was already made from the IP: Thorgal: Curse of Atlantis, a point-and-click adventure game developed by Cryo Interactive and released in 2002 and in English in 2003. It was not a big success.

Thorgal is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox series and PC. No release date is known, and the Polish studio only wrote “When it’s ready” on its website…
