[NDD 2024] The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom: Link is not the Protagonist [VIDEO]

A new Zelda game was announced during the big N’s Nintendo Direct, and we don’t have to wait that long for it to be released.

Nintendo hasn’t released a 2D Zelda since 2019. That’s when the Switch-exclusive The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Remake was released, bringing it from the Game Boy/Game Boy Color pairing to the present day. Half a decade later, Nintendo is once again catering to two-dimensional gamers with The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom… and with a twist, as Zelda will be the main character! Up until now, it’s been very rare that it’s not Link who saves Hyrule, so the announcement of the big N comes as a surprise.

It’s up to Zelda and her wisdom to save the kingdom of Hyrule in an all-new story in The Legend of Zelda series. The people of Hyrule are being stolen away by strange rifts that have appeared, and a certain swordsman is among the missing. Team up with the mysterious fairy Tri and use the power of the Tri Rod to create echoes – imitations of things found in the environment. Then recreate those echoes whenever you want to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Use echoes of water blocks to reach new heights, make bridges out of old beds, hurl rocks at enemies-or find your own creative combination of echoes to do things your way. You can even create echoes of monsters to fight at your side in battle. Join Zelda on her quest to save Hyrule.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom already has a release date, but unlike Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, we don’t think there will be a Switch 2 version in the future, as the game starring Zelda will be released by Nintendo for Switch on September 26th. Hopefully we’ll get a much higher quality result than the two Philips CD-i games, as the princess was the star of both Zelda’s Adventure and The Legend of Zelda: Wand of Gamelon.
