Sony: More positive quarter-year numbers

Sony‘s Games & Network Services include the Japanese company’s PlayStation line, and this arm of the company has published very positive numbers about their financial Q2 2015 (July-September timeframe). Let’s take a look at their numbers then.

The PlayStation 4 saw 4 million shipped (!) to the stores in Q2 2015, which means Sony was preparing in advance: they filled the stores up with enough consoles before they decided to chop the prices worldwide for the PS4. With this, PS4 is at 29 million shipped, and Sony plans to ship 17.5 million in the April 2015-March 2016 year. About software sales (or games, if you prefer), PlayStation 4 had a significant raise, which naturally means the PlayStation 3 sees a decline, but seeing how this console is almost a decade old, it is about time to slowly move towards the current generation.

Sales have overall raised by 19.4 percent on a year-by-year comparison. Hardware had a small, 4.8% raise, but network sales had a major boost with its 56.8% jump. Sony posted sales and operating revenue of 1892.7B Japanese Yen, which is actually a decrease, but they turned around nicely: last year, they registered an 85.6B JPY loss, which ended up 88B JPY operating income this year, turning their standing way back into green.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
