The Angolan guerrilla commander's children sue Activision because of COD: Black Ops II!

Here we are again, another (in)famous personality (or his/her children) sue Activision because of Call of Duty. Last time, this happened in 2014, when Manuel Noriega, ex-dictator of Panama – who’s sitting in jail by the way – sued the publisher due to the depiction of his character in Black Ops II. Another legal case, we have déjavu here…

Now, Jonas Savimbi‘s children are suing Activision because of a character in Black Ops II. Savimbi was one of the main characters in the Angolan Civil War (also playing a role in the Cold War), leading The National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) as a right-wing political party and later as a guerrilla movement until his death in 2002. In this year, the government’s forces killed him, effectively ending the Civil War with it. Savimbi’s children sue Activision due to Savimbi’s depiction as a barbarian character, wanting to kill everyone – this doesn’t suit his real personality.

In our opinion, it’s nothing more than just another commercial for the FPS that was released in November. Noriega’s case got to nowhere, and Savimbi’s won’t be lost by Activision either.
