“God Bless Him! Good Luck!” – Gary Oldman’s Has Ideas for J.K. Simmons Commissioner Gordon

MOVIE NEWS – J.K. Simmons gets ready to take over the role of Commissioner Gordon in ‘Justice League’, so Gary Oldman offers him some advice. The cast of Justice League Part 1 is currently staying in London, with the production planned to start early next week. One of the big casting surprises came only a month ago when Warner announced that J.K. Simmons would take the part of Commissioner Gordon instead of Gary Oldman. The last person to play the character on the big screen was Gary Oldman. And he certainly has some ideas about taking on the job for his fellow actor.

Gary Oldman was recently interviewed by Yahoo and asked his thoughts about J.K. Simmons taking over his former role. His instant reaction was “God bless him! Good luck!” He was then asked for some advice as J.K. Simmons is going to step into Gordon’s detective shoes for the first time later this week. Gary Oldman had this to say.

“The thing you’ve just got to get used to with Gordon is he’s a sound detective, first of all.  And he’s incorruptible, which is a kind of beautiful quality to play and sort of, like, he’s true blue.  He’s like a Watson, oddly.  He’s sort of like Watson to Sherlock is Gordon to Batman.”

On the other hand, no story details have been revealed for Justice League Part 1, and it’s not yet clear which part Gordon will have. The character is first being introduced in this epic ensemble and did not show up in this month’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We already know that Justice League takes place in both Batman’s hometowns of Gotham and Superman’s current dwelling place of Metropolis.

Regardless of the core group of characters already established in the DCEU, no other new casting announcements have been made for Justice League Part 1. It’s anybody’s guess who might show up. But with a cast that is already confirmed to involve Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane,  Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as The Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg, there isn’t anyone else to introduce to this party.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ends with a huge cliffhanger, and that’s what happened to Superman. Surely he’ll return for Justice League Part 1 as Henry Cavill has long been announced as part of the cast. We’ll have to wait until next November to join up with this team again. And it’s only then we’ll go we get to see if J.K. Simmons took Gary Oldman’s very sound advice.
