Intel Go: Self-Driving Cars In The Near Future

Intel’s new goal is to revolutionise the auto industry.

Intel Go is a new brand in the company – with its high-speed 5G radio communication-utilising processors and its software, our car could become a self-driving one. Intel spent 250 million dollars in November to form a new automated driving group and its budget, and they also bought a 15% stake in Here, a digital mapping company.

With lasers, radars and conventional cameras, our car can become aware what’s around it, and the computers in our vehicle can convert the raw data into something that the car can understand, as well as share with other vehicles on the road. The last point is something that the US government also wants to see.

Due to the 5G technology, it might take several years, though. Still, Intel is trying to become a pioneer in the auto industry after missing the boat of the mobile market. They already have partners, such as BMW, Baidu (pretty much the Chinese Google), and Delphi… and Intel might send them prototype chips in the second half of 2017.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
