The Grandfather Of Grand Theft Auto Is Up To Something

A previous Rockstar-boss is making a return.

The last time we heard of Leslie Benzies, it was when he sued Take-Two for forcing him out of the Rockstar North presidential seat. However, a few things have happened since then. Scotsman reports that Benzies has incorporated five companies. We’ll name three here: Royal Circus Games Limited, Starship Group, Everywhere Game Limited.

Royal Circus is the ominous one – the application at the Intellectual Property Office says that this company would develop games for PC, consoles, and mobile devices. The first game could be called Time For A New World, which was trademarked along with the #TFANW trademark.

Benzies, who has played a pivotal role in the success of Grand Theft Auto, might be having a jab at Rockstar with this title. Don’t forget, Benzies joined the team in 1999, and he became the director of the first 3D Grand Theft Auto game, GTA III – the beginning of the GTA-dream tale. Is history repeating itself?

VR might be involved with the new project. The fourth company is VR-Chitect Limited, aimed at making VR hardware (?!) and software. A GTA-styled game in VR would be amazing.

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
