A Key Character Departs From Valve

Gabe Newell’s team loses an important person.

Valve News Network revealed on Twitter that Erik Wolpaw, writer of games like Portal 2 and Half-Life 2, has left Valve. The Tweet also mentions Jay Pinkerton, but he has confirmed that he is still working with Gabe Newell and co.

You might be asking where Wolpaw is going now. Is he joining a rival company? No, his new workplace is something unusual. Polygon has found out that Wolpaw is going to be working in his niece’s juice store. You don’t see a move out of the gaming industry like Wolpaw’s often!

Wolpaw, who started out as co-writer on Psychonauts in 2005, has joined Valve a year later, and his first working job was Half-Life 2 Episode One. Good luck for him!

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
