Mass Effect: Andromeda Was Mostly Hacked Together In 1.5 Years!

Drama with a developer team, an engine, and even personnel change.

Kotaku wrote in detail about the troubled development of Mass Effect: Andromeda. During its five-year development, most of the things were put together in the last 1.5 years!!! The problematic developing cycle could be led back to multiple things: the bigger scale utilization of the procedurally generated planets a la No Man’s Sky was cut out (only seven planets remained), and the Frostbite engine also played a pivotal role.

It turned out that this engine isn’t capable (!) of basic RPG things, such as inventory management or managing party members. (Why didn’t they stick to the Unreal Engine and just go for the 4th iteration of Epic’s engine? Did EA not want to spend on it…?) The plot, the cinematics, and the levels were also massively lagging behind in development.

Mind you; this was just a brief recap of the troubled creation of the game. Get a cup of beverage and read Kotaku’s article, it’s worthy of a read!

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title.
