The director of God of War defends the “linearity” in the games

To Cory Barlog, after the closure of Visceral, it is “sad” that this is considered something negative.

The unexpected closing of Visceral Games has not left anyone indifferent. One of Visceral’s artists, Brendon Isaiah Bengtson acknowledged that “everyone” in the studio “was surprised” when the company was announced to close. Even more, it has been the words of EA about linear video games that have ended up igniting the debate among fans. Moreover, the director of the new God of War for PS4, veteran Cory Barlog, wanted to join to defenders of the linear video games.

“I love linear games for a single player,” he wrote on social networks. “It saddens me when the word ‘linear’ is considered a bad thing.”

Barlog has not hesitated to thank these creatives for their work over the years. “Your studio made great video games that helped raise what we all do. Thank you,” he wrote on Twitter.

EA confirmed that the Star Wars-based action game in which Visceral Games worked was handed over to EA Vancouver, who reportedly endowed the title with a new playable approach. It is unknown whether Amy Henning, one of Uncharted’s top officials, remains attached to the project.
