Star Wars: Battlefront II: Bad Signs Regarding The Multiplayer!

It looks like Electronic Arts‘ money-hungry approach will not have a positive impact on the game!

On Kotaku, you can read how Battlefront II will provide an advantage to those who want to pay more money after purchasing the game. The strongest (rarest) Star Cards (which provide extra skills, abilities for the next match, such as more HP, faster cooldown timer on skills, and so on) have been removed from loot boxes after the negative feedback from the beta. However, you can craft them via loot boxes, and only two things lock you away from the strongest cards’ crafting: your rank, as wall as your class’ card level – the latter one depends on how many cards you have, and you don’t have to play much to rank up either. Although you can’t upgrade your cards that easily due to the limitations, you can still use a card higher than your level if you get one.

If the previous paragraph sounds Chinese to you, let us describe it differently. If you spend say, a hundred dollars on top of the game’s price at launch, you’ll likely get a few rare cards that will earn you an advantage, and after a few hours of gameplay, you might see your paid advantage become a landslide. In other words: with money, you’ll have an easier chance to succeed, which means the game is still PAY TO WIN… despite the publisher modifying the loot boxes after the beta, they’ll still get the wealthy players a boost. Well done!

How about those who just want to unlock heroes by just purely paying the game? Someone on Reddit counted how much time you’ll need to play (which doesn’t even include loading and waiting times!) to unlock one hero. 2395 minutes. Roughly FORTY HOURS. A Trooper loot box also requires 159 minutes to play. TWO AND A HALF HOURS.

With these two aspects, Electronic Arts will likely shoot itself in the foot in the eyes of a few players, without a doubt…
