God Of War: Future Installments Might Get An Entirely Different Setting! [VIDEO]

Did the game’s director just hint at possible sequels?

Cory Barlog told GameInformer a few new things. The magazine’s February issue will have the game discussed in detail (as well as be on the cover, as usual), and there’s a new video coming from the publication as well.

But back to Barlog’s comments: „The Greek games were the Greek era of God of War. Moving on, the next mythological belief system he interacts with became the Norse era of God of War. But we may end up going on to the Egyptian era and the Mayan era and so on and so forth.” So there are plans within Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica, who are developing the current, unnumbered God of War game as well. This game was hard to be accepted into development, as the team wanted to take a break after God of War: Ascension…

„A lot of people throughout the organization wanted [God of War] to sleep and rest,” Shannon Studstill, SIE Santa Monica’s boss, said. „Even the first pitches I gave, there was that, ‘You’ve got to convince me that we should do another one,’” Barlog added. He thinks the franchise should be bigger than it is – he aims to reach Uncharted’s and Assassin’s Creed’s level. Studstill added that the team felt the franchise was waning a bit, and that was one of the reasons why they changed things in the new God of War game…

…which should arrive this year, exclusively on PlayStation 4.
