God Of War: What Will Replace New Game Plus?

The marketing machine continues to steam ahead.

Cory Barlog, the game’s director, got a question on Twitter, regarding New Game Plus in God of War (basically, it’d be a second playthrough with more, or tougher enemies, but you’d get to keep your skills, or maybe even your inventory, from the start), and he replied as such: „Hmmm. We have something a little different. It’s more like keep playing when you finish because there is so much stuff we put in beyond the main journey!” By the wording, it looks like there will be post-game content, which was practically confirmed by him.

He also talked about the ending to Daily Star:

„Daily Star: Regarding the ending, where does this sit in the spectrum of God of War games? Because I remember you telling me previously how much you loved your cliffhanger style ending from God of War 2. Kratos was heading up to Olympus ready to bring the rule of Zeus crashing down. Are you simply teasing a direction you’re taking this new God of War game or will you give fans a meaty ending like that which you so enjoy?

Cory Barlog: It’s both. So you get a bit of that, and you also get the natural feeling of a conclusion to the game’s story. And then, as I said, I have never in anything I’ve ever worked on put as many secrets in a game as now. They’re everywhere.” It means that the game will have a bit of cliffhanger ending, which points to a possible sequel already.

To IGN, he told that he always liked Kratos, but a few fans, as well as a few people in Sony, told him that maybe he should leave him behind. In fact, he was close to seeing Kratos’ son, Atreus, getting cut from the game: „There was a point where I was almost forced to get rid of Atreus, because everyone was panicked about how complicated it was going to be, but Kratos, no; I was pretty adamant right from the beginning in saying: I wanted the challenge of taking a character that some people loathed. They’re like, ‘Look, I don’t like this character. He’s reprehensible at times.’ We wrote him that way. We made him the anti-hero intentionally.”

God of War will launch on April 20, only on PlayStation 4.

Let’s see, I beat the Valkeries before I beat the game, finished all of nifflheim and all of musphelheim before the final fight, getting thoroughly pissed I couldn’t max my weapons before the final fight. Got 100% in all areas. What else is there to do?

There a lot of stuff to do after endgame in witcher 3 but still had a Newgame plus. I love this game but It needs Newgame Plus and DLC too.
