Is Capcom Still Developing Deep Down?

Deep Down is slowly reaching Duke Nukem Forever levels.

Capcom announced the Panta Rhei engine-using Deep Down for PlayStation 4 no less than five years ago; it felt like Dark Souls set in New York. The last time we saw it was in late 2014, and it was shown in a recruitment video in the background in early 2015. Since then, the project is silent.

Despite the silence, Capcom continues to renew the name’s trademark. They did it yet again just the other day at the USPTO, which was accepted by the patent and trademark organization. It means the game is still in development despite not showing signs of life in the past three years. As Capcom asked to extend the trademark the second time since it was re-registered, they have three more extensions remaining, which means Capcom should launch the game by June 20, 2020. It’s unlikely to be launched by the end of March 2019, even though it’d fit their two major titles definition…

Maybe we’ll see it in this console generation…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
