Is CD Projekt RED working on a new The Witcher game?

CD Projekt RED previously stated that Geralt’s adventures have ended with The Witcher III. But that doesn’t mean that we have to say goodbye to the series forever.

Adam Kicinski, CD Projekt RED’s CEO gave an interview to Bankier.pl and he hinted that the world of The Witcher games could expand in the future. He also shared some thoughts about their upcoming game, Cyberpunk 2077.

The studio is working on (at least) two project simultaneously. One of these is Cyberpunk 2077 and this is the main focus of the studio now. They don’t want to share the resources and attention of the players, which is understandable. It wouldn’t be the wisest choice to announce this second game when Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t even near completion and not released yet.

Also, this second game is far away from a state that could be considered good enough to announce it, but it will happen sometime, according to Kicinski.

Of course, in the interview, he also got a question about a possible The Witcher sequel, namely The Witcher 4. Kicinski gave the following answer:

“The first three Witchers were by definition a trilogy, so we simply could not name the next game The Witcher 4, This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher, created by us for over a dozen years. The Witcher is one of two franchises on which to build in the future activities of the company. Today, unfortunately, I can not reveal anything more.”

Could the new game that CD Projekt RED is currently working on be the new The Witcher game? More than likely. The real question is that who will be the new protagonist? An entirely new character, or perhaps someone that players already know? A lot of fans want Ciri as the main character. We will see, if this will happen or not.
