The PlayStation 4 Slim got a new iteration in Japan.
Since the 2017 revision, the PlayStation 4 Slim was running with the CUH-2100 model series, but Sony might have changed a few things under the hood, as the local market now has the CUH-2200BB01, the CUH-2200AB01, and the CUH-2200BB02. They are the black 1TB, 500GB, and the white 1TB models. The white 500GB version hasn’t been updated yet (that’s still CUH-2100AB02). What on Earth did Sony modify with the consoles?
The price, weight, size, and power consumption are still the same, so Sony might be putting the console with a newer firmware by default (or they might have replaced a few parts to cut manufacturing costs). The updated model will slowly be available worldwide, although with a different product number (the last two digits will be different – the first digit would only change to a 3, if Sony made a PlayStation 4 Super Slim, just like how they did with the PS3…).
It’s a minimal update, but it’s still an update.
