Devil May Cry 5 Has Two Goals

Capcom is bringing back the Devil May Cry name to the public.

The fifth numbered DMC has to be strong, or the franchise might disappear in the darkness for another few years. (Like how Deep Down has done – we haven’t heard of it for about three years at this point!) Hideaki Itsuno, Michiteru Okabe, and Matthew Walker revealed a few new details about Dante and co’s latest adventure.

With the RE engine, Capcom wants to achieve two things: it has to be as photorealistic as possible, and it must run at constant sixty frames per second, no matter what. To accomplish this, Capcom digitalised not only the actors but their clothes as well via motion capture. However, its downside will be that your animation has to finish. You cannot cancel an attack, for example.

With the story, Capcom wanted Nero to be more experienced and stronger both physically and mentally than in Devil May Cry 4. This is their reasoning why DMC 5 is set a few years after 4. Also, in the previous artworks, we have seen the third playable character, but the Japanese company is intentionally keeping silent on this subject.

Devil May Cry 5 will be playable at Gamescom (Nero in Red Grave City), and the game will launch in the first quarter of 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
