Nintendo Spent The Most Again On Television Advertisements

In August, Nintendo spent the most in the United States on television advertisements. After July’s 5.8 million spending, they increased their budget to 6.2 million.

The gaming industry spent more in August than in July (24.9 instead of 18.3 million) – 32 brands’ 61 advertisements were aired over 15200 times with over 2.2 billion ad impressions. Nintendo took the most (6.2 million dollars, 11 ads, 3200+ airings, 395.5 million impressions), and 2.6 million of their budget was by Epic Games who promoted games on the Nintendo Switch such as Fortnite. (These ads were aired during programs such as The Office, South Park, and Spongebob Squarepants.)

PlayStation wasn’t on the charts in July, but they blasted themselves back to second place in August (3.9 million dollars, 1 (!) ad, 792 airings, 249.5 million impressions) with Spider-Man, which launched this Friday. (Aired during South Park and The Office to name a few programs.)

Third place went to FoxNext Games (3.6 million dollars, 2 ads, 3400+ airings, 387.3 million impressions) for Marvel Strike Forces’ Assemble Your Squad during programs like The Simpsons. In fourth place, we find Niantic (~3 million dollars, 1 ad, 2600+ airings, 310.8 million impressions) for Pokémon Go’s Play Together, Trade Together! during South Park, Family Guy, or Bob’s Burgers. InnoGames finished fifth (2.6 million dollars, 5 ads, 1300+ airings, 284.2 million impressions) with Forge of Empires’ Develop Your City taking the most money (roughly 1.1 million dollars) during programs like The Simpsons.

September might see a major turnaround in the rankings as several major games are getting close to their respective launch dates…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
