EA Vancouver’s (Ex-Visceral Games) Star Wars Game Is Cancelled?

Electronic Arts has shifted over Visceral Games’ linear, single-player Star Wars game over to EA Vancouver, but after over a year of its reboot in development, they decided to bin it all…

Kotaku reports that the Star Wars game that ran under the codename Ragtag, initially handled by ex-Uncharted director Amy Hennig at Visceral Games (known for Dead Space), was moved to EA Vancouver in 2017 after Visceral’s closure. They began to remake the game into an open-world title, but the site now reports that the entire project (which was codenamed Orca) has been taken off the table.

With this cancellation, we have to ask if Electronic Arts is even capable of releasing Star Wars games regularly. While Disney doesn’t seem to be involved with them that much (except in late 2017 when they stepped in amidst the loot box chaos with Star Wars: Battlefront II), but what AAA games have we seen from them aside from the two Battlefronts? Nothing! Even Respawn’s Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, which is supposed to come out this year wasn’t shown yet after the sneaky (albeit ridiculous) EA Play 2018 announcement…

Is the publisher thinking that there’s not a lot of potential in Star Wars games? What could EA Vancouver be doing now?

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
