If even the CEO of CD Projekt RED talks optimistically about how Cyberpunk 2077 could be cross-gen (a game that launches on both the current-gen and the next-gen consoles), then something might be happening behind the scenes…
There’s a video on YouTube that reviews CD Projekt RED‘s 2018 fiscal year (even though it ends on Sunday…), but Adam Kiciński, the CEO of CDPR, repeated that Cyberpunk 2077, which was announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, is in an „advanced” state of development. He also said the following: „If there is an opportunity for us to launch Cyberpunk for another generation, we would want to do this probably.” It’s a bold comment, isn’t it?
Kiciński also talked about the game that will launch after Cyberpunk 2077. This RPG is already in development, and it will be a brand-new title (and thus, potentially a new IP as well), which wants to go beyond the gamers’ expectations, even with a smaller team that the Cyberpunk group is at the moment. The quality will remain their utmost importance, though (which also applies to Cyberpunk 2077 – they want to be better than even Red Dead Redemption 2, and we wrote about it before).
„It’s too early to go into details just now. We are doing a lot of things we don’t communicate, and I’m not saying another Cyberpunk product is or is not being developed. It’s just that there are a few things we’re not discussing just yet. [It’s] mainly [the] next production, because the CP team is not going to grow that much anymore. But as a company, we are going to grow indeed. In our industry, creative capacities are in direct proportion to the team sizes because it’s people doing and creating what we are selling. We don’t plan to stop at a certain level,” Kiciński said. He also talked about E3: „Last year’s E3 has been the most important one so far throughout the whole CD Projekt history, but this year’s is going to be the most important one ever for us. We have really prepared a strong show.” And they also say they don’t plan to have „stars” for this presentation either.
So Cyberpunk 2077 is growing, and it’s likely that we’ll learn a lot about the next highly anticipated CD Projekt RED game at this year’s E3.
