Outlaws: Has Rocksteady Been Working On This Game?

Rocksteady, the developers of the Batman: Arkham games (except for Origins), has been silent for several years, but now, we might have learned what they might be making!

It’s been a long time since June 2015, when their last major (non-VR…) game, Batman: Arkham Knight, launched. There have been a lot of rumours since (we discussed most of them…), but now, Reddit has an image allegedly from Warner Bros.’ Instagram account. It shows the name of the game (Outlaws), as well as a world reveal set to happen on April 26, and there’s the Wayne Tower in the background. (Don’t worry about the Epic Games copyright at the bottom, though – the game might be using the Unreal Engine, as was the case with the Batman: Arkham games…)

In the comics, the Outlaws group is led by a former ally to Batman called Jason Todd. In the Arkham games, he first was Robin, then he became the Arkham Knight – in that game, he saved Batman from Scarecrow before disappearing. He’s likely alive and kicking, and his group might have a few other people, such as Red Hood, Bunker, Wingman, Arsenal, Bizarro, or Starfire. We’re just guessing at the moment.

Plot-wise, we might be right after Batman: Arkham Knight – Batman is nowhere to be found, and someone has to keep Gotham safe… and since Rocksteady is developing for next-gen platforms, this game could be for those, too.

Meanwhile, let’s not forget that Warner Bros. Montreal’s multiplayer-focused game could be revealed on June 4! Until then, let’s wait until Friday to see if Outlaw does get revealed or not…
