Kratos Is Going Next-Gen: God Of War 2 Is In Development For The PlayStation 5!

Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica, the developers of God of War, has launched the game over a year ago. It became one of the outstanding PlayStation 4-exclusive titles in 2018. Is a sequel coming?

Cory Barlog, the 2018 God of War‘s director had a bunch of tweets on Twitter, where if you read the first letter of each tweet, you could get the text RAGNAROK IS COMING❤. This phrase is also in the PlayStation 4 dynamic theme, which was released recently to celebrate God of War’s first birthday. Perhaps God of War’s secret ending wasn’t a joke – we’ll not spoil it for you, but it shows up when you go to sleep in your home after ending your adventure…

We never had any doubt about Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica working on a sequel, but their job listing page has a lot of open positions from combat design to narrative implementation. However, almost all of the job listings include the following sentence: „must have knowledge of God of War (2018) and be able to speak in depth about the combat systems, mechanics and enemies.” And how does the next-gen come into the picture? The answer is simple: the facial blend shape character artist job listing page also mentions this sentence portion: „next-gen video game platform experience is desirable.” That’s how.

So after all this, we have no doubts about how Sony is planning something with Kratos and his son Atreus for PlayStation 5 (or whatever the next-gen PlayStation will be called…). As Barlog himself has previously said that he planned multiple games, it’s no surprise to see what Sony plans. After all, God of War sold very well, and for a good reason…
