Doom: Annihilation Gets A Release Date [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – The film, Doom: Annihilation, that nobody asked for (honestly: who even expected another Doom film to be made?!) now has a release date.

At the time of writing these lines, only 35876 views are on the Doom: Annihilation trailer, which was released in late March. That alone is pathetic, especially how it’s on Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s YouTube channel. LOL. Let’s add the fact that the video has 122 likes (that’s one hundred and twenty-two!) with 2326 dislikes – so we can safely say that it wasn’t welcomed with open arms, especially how it’s going to be a direct-to-video film, meaning it’ll skip the cinema rounds and instantly become available on a DVD or a Blu-ray.

Well, this not-so-promoted film now has a release date, and we’re pretty sure Bethesda doesn’t like it (they openly admitted to distance themselves from Doom: Annihilation…). The film will be available from October 1. „Based on the popular original video game, Doom: Annihilation is an explosive, terrifying thrill ride. On the darkest moon of Mars, scientists have found an ancient portal which allows teleportation throughout the universe. Considered to be mankind’s greatest discovery, it’s a gateway from hell, unleashing a swarm of demons looking to steal the souls of everyone who gets in their way. It’s up to Lieutenant Joan Dark and an elite unit of Marines to destroy an ever-growing horde of bloodsucking and soul-stealing beasts and prevent them from taking over planet Earth.” That’s the synopsis.

No Doom Guy, no Doom Slayer (the latter is the protagonist of the 2016 Doom reboot, as well as the sequel, Doom: Eternal, out in November), and if we add the low budget, we can easily say that we can’t expect much from Doom: Annihilation. It can only be saved if it’s so bad that it’s good. Otherwise, it will be one of the worst video game-to-movie adaptations, ever.
