Cyberpunk 2077, Dying Light, Outriders, Sniper Ghost Warrior … Why are Polish games fashionable?

CD Projekt, Techland, 11-bit Studios, CI Games or People Can Fly are some of Poland’s studios that succeed.

Something is happening with video games that come from Poland, and in spite of being a relatively small country (38 million inhabitants), the truth is that in the last ten years it has become a reference for video games. Now Techland, the authors of the expected Dying Light 2, have talked about it.

“The Polish press went crazy with E3 2019,” said Tymon Smektala, one of the designers of the studio. “We were at the Microsoft conference, at the Square Enix conference, CD Projekt was also at Nintendo for the first time for a Polish team … The success of video games coming from Poland is making many other people think that too you can do it too. ”

“There are great teams like us or CD Projekt that prepares Cyberpunk 2077, but there are also much smaller ones that are handled very well. Companies like 11-bit Studios, which they have released great titles like Frostpunk or This War of Mine, “he says in words collected by the GamesIndustry portal. “I think that among the Poles there is generally the attitude that we have to show the world that we are important, that they have to look at us.”

“For many years, we have looked to the West and we have seen how the people who came from there did great things and we did not. But we wanted to do it, ” he continues. “Now we have the need to show everyone that we are here and that we know how to make video games.”
