Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Breaks Several Sales Records

After all this, NPD Group’s prediction about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare becoming the best-selling game in the United States for 2019 is all but confirmed…

Activision (we can call them Activision Blizzard, to be fair…) and Infinity Ward announced that in its first three days of release (so the October 25 weekend), the game earned more than 600 million dollars in sell-through, becoming the best-selling Call of Duty game in the current generation, plus the biggest selling new „premium game” of 2019, not to mention the biggest selling digital opening in Activision’s history. On the PlayStation Network, it got the highest digital pre-orders and three-day digital sales on PlayStation 4. It also earned the biggest PC launch for the series, with the sales „significantly up” over last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII on Battle.net. (And we just shrug: the gaming industry continues to grow, and the ceiling hasn’t hit yet. It’s just chest bashing, nothing more.)

„Call of Duty is once again the top-selling new premium game of the year, proving the enduring nature of the franchise across console, PC, mobile, and esports. In its first three days of release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare more than doubled the box office opening of Joker,” said Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick in a press release. „Through the first three days, Modern Warfare has more total players and total hours played than any Call of Duty opening release in the last six years. More importantly, our players are having a great time playing. Congratulations to Infinity Ward and all our teams involved on an incredible game and its spectacular launch. We also want to thank the community for your incredible support. The launch of Modern Warfare is only the start. There’s much more to come,” Activision president Rob Kostich added.

Congratulations.
