Halo 3, which launched in 2007 on the Xbox 360, was a significant success back in its day – and even today, Master Chief’s adventures can be completed in unusual ways.
Super Louis 64 is the person who showed on YouTube how he beat Bungie‘s game. Sure, he needed a month, and he died 252 times during the process, but he managed to complete Halo 3 on the hardest difficulty level, Legendary… with a Guitar Hero controller. A plastic guitar.
He used an input converter to be capable of using the Guitar Hero controller, which got an extremely quirky control scheme that you can see on the following image below – holding down the orange button complicates things a bit further. We’ll let the control scheme image speak for itself.
„The hard part of the run was managing an FPS with a guitar that has no joysticks. Overall, it was a challenging run as I haven’t played Halo 3 in almost a decade. I saw a tweet earlier this year about someone joking about their roommate blazing on Adderall [in case you don’t know what it is: it’s a drug mostly used with hyperactive children, containing amphetamine – the ed.], and beating Halo 3 on Legendary with a guitar. I wanted to see if it was possible and it turns out it is if you don’t mind your hands falling apart,” he wrote on Reddit.
The video below is twenty-two minutes long, but it recaps all the efforts that were required to complete the game with such a handicap. We still have to say that it is a highly commendable effort. Well done! Microsoft should send this guy a Christmas package for all his work and his patience…
