The Internet Accuses Sony With Plagiarizing! [VIDEO]

With a music video, the Internet’s users believe that Sony used animation without permission, and it’s quite shocking.

The video was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia, and while it got removed, as always, we can say the usual chorus: the Internet never forgets. In this promotional video, sixteen games’ clips can be seen, but they are not the problem. The issue comes with the animations that tie them together. Thankfully, a comparison video has been made, so everyone can decide how much of a blatant rip-off the case is.

DualShockers learned via the Akiba Souken interview that the animation director behind the video is called Kevin Bao, who formerly got accused by more plagiarizing in a Live with YouTube Gaming animation video.

Sony hasn’t commented on the case yet, and they probably will not do so, as they are more busy with celebrating the 25th anniversary of PlayStation, which we mentioned twice this week. The video got removed, but it got reuploaded.

Here, we’d like to quote a comment: „[It’s] INSANE that they made this crazy effort to create a specialised song for the game clips (the song is specifically referencing whats happening in the clips and making it seem like the characters are lipsyncing the lyrics at some points) only for the artist to completely undercut this effort by utterly, blatantly ripping off others hard work… absolutely psychotic.”

So Sony got into a bit of problematic situation here – the song itself isn’t weak, and they did everything possible to sync them to the game clips, but the animations between said clips have ruined it all. At least the company did the right thing. Kevin Bao has probably dug himself a grave in the animation industry with this move, though.
