Coronavirus: Three More Affected EventsCoronavirus: Three More Affected Events

Coronavirus – Some got cancelled, some got postponed.

Mojang, the dev team behind Minecraft, has done a ballsy move, or they might have exaggerated – regardless, they announced that Minecraft Festival will not be held in Orlando, Florida. So far, so good, but the event was planned to happen in september, after a three-year hiatus. The reasoning follows: „Our partners, producers, and exhibitors are based in all corners of the world, and right now we can’t meet and collaborate in the way we need to. Without knowing exactly when we can resume planning, we have decided to postpone. That way, we can make sure that next year’s event will be the amazing one that our community expects and deserves.”

Next on our list is Electronic Arts, who announced that they either postpone or outright cancel several Apex Legends and FIFA 20 eSport events, and the Apex Legends Global Series, which is supposed to happen in the next few days, also ran into this issue. Let’s see what EA says: „These decisions haven’t come easy, but given the large, global nature of these events, we believe that making these changes are in the best interest of protecting the health of the community, including competitors, attendees and staff. As we continue to monitor the situation around the coronavirus and receive guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organisation, we’ll continue to evaluate and provide more updates as it relates to all of EA’s competitive gaming events.” You can find the list of events here.

Number three is Game Connection America 2020, which is postponed indefinitely and it was recommended by the California Department of Public Health and the Office of the Mayor of San Francisco. (Since Los Angeles, another big Californian city, has a state of emergency, it makes sense.) „Our entire team has been working hard the last six months to prepare Game Connection America, all signage has been printed and the Oracle Park and the TableTop Tap House have been reserved along with a lot of services. Let’s Meet will stay open for all five days as planned (March 16-20). We encourage those of our participants who will not be in San Francisco to use the ‘Custom Virtual Location’ to schedule meetings on Let’s Meet. For those who will be in San Francisco please use the ‘Custom Location’ to re-schedule your meetings at the location that suits your business partners and yourself the best,” they say.

When will E3 be the next…?

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
