The Last Of Us Part II’s New Release Date Found?

Either Sony is trying a really bold move, or the scenario that we have been predicting since the delay of Naughty Dog‘s game might be happening…

Recently, we wrote about how Sony’s two upcoming exclusives, namely The Last of Us Part II, and the PlayStation VR-exclusive Marvel’s Iron Man VR have been indefinitely delayed due to the „logistic” challenges that the coronavirus pandemic has caused. (COVID-19 has also made Capcom and Square Enix drop the ball. In Europe, both Resident Evil 3 Remake and Final Fantasy VII Remake have broken the street date with the physical copies.)

This image is from Amazon. We’re not linking the listing because they already changed the release date to the regular placeholder of December 31, but WCCFTech has saved the screenshot that shows June 26 could be (!) the new release date of Ellie’s and Joel’s story’s continuation.

Hold on, June 26 is the release date for another PlayStation 4-exclusive! That’s when Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima is supposed to arrive! That’s why we wrote what we wrote in the first paragraph. Sony might be either releasing two PlayStation 4-exclusives on the same day (which, from a business standpoint, could be making sense, as some sales would thus happen in the first quarter of the new fiscal year, ending on the last day of June…), or we might see what we have been predicting: Ghost of Tsushima could be facing a delay.

And since we’re starting to see a pattern on how Sony is timing the releases of its exclusives, we’re guessing when Ghost of Tsushima would hit the shelves. Either July 24 or July 31. Both are late in the month, both are Fridays (just like how June 26 or May 29, the previous launch day for The Last of Us Part II pre-COVID-19…), it’s likely we could see the Japanese adventures on one of these days.

Keep in mind that it is not official, but we’re not having doubts this time.
