Was Rocksteady Working On A Superman Game? [VIDEO]

We used past tense on purpose: Rocksteady might have been intentionally silent in the past few years!

Batman: Arkham Knight’s launch was almost five years ago at this point. Since then, we haven’t seen a major game from Rocksteady Studios, but we have heard a few rumours what the studio could be doing. Here comes a Twitter user, James Sigfield, who – in multiple tweets – explained why Rocksteady has been quite a mute studio in the past couple of years.

„[I’m] hearing from multiple sources that Rocksteady pitched a Superman game to Warner Bros. as a follow up to Batman: Arkham Knight and Warner passed on the project. Judging how similar this feels to the „New Gotham” section of Arkham Knight, this could be for that.” Let’s see the added image, then we’ll continue:

„The various Easter eggs in Batman: Arkham Knight referencing Superman and Metropolis were meant to be hints towards the story and characters.” Then, he mentioned one that he believes we know the most. Do you remember the Lex Luthor easter egg in the 2015 Batman game? No? It’s fine, we have a quick refresher for you:

And finally, he talked about the destruction technology that we have seen in Batman: Arkham Knight: „The destruction tech used in Arkham Knight was also something that would’ve transitioned to their Superman game.”

James Sigfield is the same person who talked about the next Batman game in February. This game isn’t being made by Rocksteady but Warner Bros. Montreal, the team who made Batman: Arkham Origins. The image he showed was one of the concept artworks of a Superman game (a few have popped up recently). It could explain why Rocksteady didn’t budge an inch in the past three-to-four years.

A Superman game wouldn’t necessarily be a bad idea. Clark Kent is also in the DC universe, just like Bruce Wayne, so there could have been some „spilling over” to the other franchise between Superman and Batman. Warner probably believed that it wouldn’t have been a financial success if they allowed the Superman project to be made…
