Two More Events Delayed Due To US Protests

Sony’s The Future of Gaming event (featuring the PlayStation 5) was just the beginning – since then, we heard about two more events that the originally planned dates have been pushed back.

„We decided to move Night City Wire to June 25. We still look forward to sharing new information about Cyberpunk 2077, but more important discussions are happening right now and we want them to be heard. We wholeheartedly stand against racism, intolerance and violence. Black Lives Matter,” CD Projekt RED wrote on Twitter. Until now, they planned to hold this event on June 11. Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on September 17 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (and possibly Google Stadia), despite CDPR admittedly remote working on the game. The multiplayer component will likely not be available before 2022.

„We stand in solidarity with the Black community and condemn racism. Out of respect for and in support of those rightfully demanding justice and change across the United States and the world, IGN will be delaying the launch of its Summer of Gaming main events until June 8.

Today, IGN is participating in Blackout Tuesday, a day of reflection, action, and commitment to meaningful change. IGN will be driving donations to support the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, an organization that supports legal action and long-term change, including on our daily live news show NG+. Our sister company, Humble Bundle, has announced a $1 million fund dedicated to helping publish games by Black developers. This is a start, but we are committed to driving long-term change. We will have more updates on how we will continue to support the fight for justice,” IGN’s statement reads on Twitter.

IGN planned to start their E3 replacement program, Summer of Gaming, on June 4, but it has been delayed by four days. Still, we have the question that we asked amongst the events that got wiped out by the coronavirus: where is the light at the end of the tunnel?

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
