Will Splinter Cell Return? That’s What The Italian Dubber Says!

Sam Fisher’s starving fans can rejoice: the next Splinter Cell is coming, according to the Italian dubber who is giving the character’s voice!

There hasn’t been a new Splinter Cell game in the entire PlayStation 4 / Xbox One generation, so it’s natural that fans of Sam Fisher, the protagonist of the series, jump at every little rumor that could tell of the return of their beloved stealth game.

They can now welcome the news that the Italian website Multiplayer.it has interviewed Sam Fisher’s Italian voice, Luca Ward, as part of the UltraPop Festival, who has virtually confirmed that a new Splinter Cell game is indeed being made.

„There’s this Splinter Cell comeback that should take place for a final adventure, though I’m not sure about this part, and they haven’t yet figured out if it’s going to be in 2021. It was supposed to be in 2020, then COVID-19 happened and several big projects got stuck in 2020, while others moved forward such as Cyberpunk 2077, which I’m almost done working on.”

„Anyway, I’m sure Splinter Cell is returning, that’s a fact.”

As you may recall, last year The Information posted a rumor that a new game of Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed that would have been Oculus VR-exclusive was in the works. We haven’t heard more on this since, but chances are the new Splinter Cell mentioned by Luca Ward may be VR-exclusive.

And if that’s the case, and we’re really going to be in virtual reality as Sam Fisher, then there’s a good chance that a first-person view game is being made, which would be a huge shift from the third-person view used so far. Of course, that doesn’t mean the new game can’t be an interesting or even downright innovative take on the stealth game genre.

Ubisoft has held its Ubisoft Forward event not so long ago, although it has fared much worse than the usual Ubisoft E3 conferences. The company has since confirmed that there will be another event later where they will be able to show more. If the new Sam Fisher adventure arrives in 2021, it will likely be presented there as well.
