Sony is Celebrating PlayStation Plus’ 10th Anniversary With Another Gift!

At least they don’t seem to cheapskate this time around.

So far, it seemed that Sony will simply throw us a simple, basic, animation less free PS Plus 10th Anniversary PlayStation 4 theme for the birthday, and we wouldn’t have been surprised if it did stick at that with nothing else. (Okay, fine, the subscribers got a third game in the shape of Erica aside from NBA 2K20 and Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20th Anniversary Celebration.) However, the situation has somewhat changed since then. Look at your PlayStation Network notifications.

No, not because your friend might have dissed you in a message, but you might see a message from Sony that says it added ten dollars of PlayStation Store credit to your account. It’s a round number fitting the anniversary, but if every PlayStation Plus subscriber gets it (at the moment, it’s half-official!), then everyone would win.

Here’s an example of the message – Sony celebrates the PlayStation Plus anniversary by giving you ten bucks in PlayStation Store credit, thanking you for using PS Plus. This message was also received by Tidux, a reliable Sony insider.

It might be international – here’s a French person who received the gift too.

You could get something decent with the credit off the PlayStation Store, as it’s having a summer sale at the moment, but different folks, different strokes. Not everyone might get the message from Sony. Still, the PlayStation Plus service has improved a lot over the last ten years, but it also has degraded in some aspects (because the subscribers get two PlayStation 4 games, although they previously got two PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita titles as well).

Sony has to step it up with the PlayStation 5 – the PlayStation Plus has to be in top shape as the service isn’t in the best position at the moment, and many people only get it to play multiplayer on PlayStation 4.
