Is Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Coming With An Extra Game?

Insomniac Games is preparing for all opportunities.

When Sony Interactive Entertainment and the now SIE-owned Insomniac Games announced Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for PlayStation 5 in June, it was confusing altogether. The devs said that it’s a full, standalone game, similarly to Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which had a new cast and map. However, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be using the same location and map (New York City), so isn’t it an expansion?

Thankfully, some answers might have surfaced from the newest issue of Game Informer, and Reddit has the important part for us: „[Marvel’s Spider-Man:] Miles Morales isn’t a traditional sequel since it comes bundled with a remastered version of Insomniac’s [Marvel’s] Spider-Man that takes full advantage of the PlayStation 5 hardware.”

It makes sense to upgrade Peter Parker’s story, as the location is the same, only the time of the year is different. And now, it all makes sense why Sony used the 2018 PlayStation 4-exclusive game to showcase how the PlayStation 5’s loading time would be far superior to the PlayStation 4 Pro’s.

„Let’s set the scene for the game a little more. It’s now wintertime, about a year after the events of the first game. Marvel’s New York is covered in snow, and just before Christmas break, and a war between an energy corporation and a high-tech criminal army has broken out. Miles’s new home in Harlem is at the heart of the battle,” this is all we know of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ plot. The game launches this Holiday season, likely as a PlayStation 5 launch title.
