Overwatch: Up to € 25,000 grand prize in the European Artists’ Championship

Being an Overwatch player pays off – you can earn some serious money with the game at the year-end competition for artistic talent!

 

Overwatch continues to offer content to keep millions of fans of Blizzard‘s hero-shooter active. This time, to those with a deeper artistic look. The Overwatch Student Animation Festival has been announced, a contest that puts into play a total prize valued at over 25,000 euros.

As Blizzard tells from a press release, the Overwatch Student Animation Festival was born with the aim of supporting budding animators, since this section is important in the game universe. The event will feature animation and film schools, but all 3D animation or video production students enrolled in schools or universities in the European Union, Norway, Switzerland or the United Kingdom will be able to participate.

 

 

Although there is no exact date yet, it is scheduled to take place between the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021. The registration period for participants will open in early September. While the deadline for the first phase of the contest will be on October 1, 2020. Participants must create a small piece of handmade animation, in 3D, with stop motion or any other technique that adheres to the theme. The jury is made up of film directors, Blizzard animators or video footage experts.

Blizzard will reward winning students or teams with a piece of cash. The festival will culminate with the grand finale, in which the winning student or team will win € 6,000 and game licenses. From the event website, you can find out all the details.
