Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – Frank Woods’ New Voice

It’s not known why the old actor was replaced in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but he’s not happy with the decision either.

In addition to Gamescom 2020, last week’s theme was the long-awaited presentation of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War which, with its spectacular preview and new look, perhaps made up some important details, such as the change of voice actors that suffered the protagonists, among them, of course, Frank Woods, whose original interpreter, James C. Burns, expressed annoyance in a recent video where he answered questions from the community.

They brought in a guy who is stealing … he is imitating my act.

The reasons for the change or the identity of the new actor are unknown, but the truth is that Burns said he was frustrated by knowing so much about the character and not being able to take advantage of that knowledge in the new rendition of the protagonist. “I’m sure the story is going to be brilliant. It’s just that if I could put everything I know … like 80,000 pounds, I could put this thing on. Not that I want to belittle whoever is going to do it, but I don’t have to. the background that I have with Woods. I have 11 years with this guy, and I know all his history and all these preloaded things, and I know the man. So that’s my frustration.” said Burns, who also said annoyed by him fact that the new actor imitates him, instead of creating a new identity for Woods. “It’s one thing to bring in someone new and create a new Woods. But they didn’t do this. They brought in a guy who’s stealing… he’s mimicking my act.

Perhaps we can find a clue to the design philosophy in Modern Warfare, whose iconic Captain Price also switched actor for one who could not only lend his voice but also his image, in the form of Barry Sloane. When we look at the new Call of Duty, we find that a character like Lawerence Sims is played by an actor like Reggie Watkins, whose face was clearly used for the character’s model. It is clear that Bruce Thomas is also the face of Russell Adler, and Alex Mason and Jason Hudson also changed interpreters, although perhaps there the decision was more financial and marketing since the main actors used to be the renowned Sam Worthington and Ed Harris.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be a straight sequel to the first game of the series, arriving on November 13th for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and PS5 and Xbox Series X.
